The best growth marketing courses in 2026. And the one thing none of them teach you.

I built the first version of this page in 2022 as a plain list of courses. Then I watched people finish them and email me a week later asking what to do on Monday. The course was never the problem. The Monday was.

If you are the only marketer in the building, or a founder doing your own growth, taking a course is a sane move. It gives you a map. This is the honest, current list of the ones worth your time in 2026, sorted by how you like to learn, with the free or paid call made for you.

TL;DR

  • Pick by format. A cohort gives you deadlines and peers, a self-paced course gives you flexibility and a lower price, a free course is the right place to start.
  • The big names still lead: Reforge for senior operators, CXL for a real certification, Demand Curve for founders who want to apply it this week.
  • Free is a genuine option. Velocity Growth and HubSpot Academy cost nothing and are a good place to begin before you spend.
  • A certificate helps with hiring at the margins. It is not the thing that makes you good.
  • Every course here shares one gap: it teaches the general playbook, not how to run it on your funnel. That is the part a mentor does.

How to pick a growth marketing course

The mistake is buying the most expensive program you can justify and hoping the price tag creates the discipline. It does not. The best course is the one whose format matches how you actually learn and how much time you have this quarter. If you would rather learn from peers than a curriculum, a marketing community is the other route worth weighing.

Three things to weigh: format (cohort versus self-paced), price (free is a real starting point), and whether you want a certificate. On the certificate: a few of these carry one that hiring managers recognize, CXL most of all. It helps at the margins. It is not what makes you good at the job.

Format first, brand second. A cohort program gives you deadlines and peers. A self-paced course gives you flexibility and a lower price. A free course lets you test the water before you spend. Match the format to how you learn, then choose the name.

Part 1

Cohort-based and intensive programs

Reforge

Reforge homepage

Reforge is the deep end. Cohort-based programs built with operators from companies like Stripe, Figma, and Duolingo, covering growth, retention, monetization, and product strategy. It is expensive and it assumes you already work in growth. If you are senior and want frameworks from people who have run them at scale, this is the one. The skills it trains toward are the ones a head of growth needs.

CXL Growth Marketing Minidegree

CXL Growth Marketing Minidegree homepage

CXL's Growth Marketing Minidegree is the certification employers recognize, and it shows up on LinkedIn as a credential. It is a long, structured track across foundations, analytics, and channels, taught by working practitioners. Good if you want a certificate with weight and the patience to earn it.

GrowthTribe

GrowthTribe homepage

GrowthTribe runs short, structured cohorts on growth and AI-for-marketing, with live sessions and a certificate at the end. Lighter and faster than Reforge, with more hand-holding. A solid middle option when you want the accountability of a cohort without the senior-operator bar.

Maven

Maven homepage

Maven is the marketplace for cohort-based courses, and it is where a lot of the best individual growth operators now teach their own short programs. Quality varies by instructor, so pick by the person, not the platform. The upside is access to a specific expert for a week or two, often cheaper than a full program, and a good alternative to the big course platforms.

Part 2

Self-paced courses you can start today

Demand Curve

Demand Curve homepage

Demand Curve's growth program is the founder-and-early-marketer favorite: a self-paced library of playbooks, templates, and channel walkthroughs you can apply the same week. Strong on paid acquisition and landing pages. If you want something practical to start tonight, start here. It pairs well with our roundups of Google Ads courses and Facebook Ads courses when you go deep on a channel.

General Assembly

General Assembly homepage

General Assembly's digital marketing course is the broad, beginner-friendly on-ramp: fundamentals across channels, analytics, and CRM, with mentor support and a certificate. Less growth-specific than the others, more of a marketing 101 if you are switching into the field. Worth a look alongside a digital marketing mentor.

Part 3

Free courses and where to start

Velocity Growth

Velocity Growth homepage

Velocity Growth's Mastering Growth course covers the core loop: financial and growth modeling, acquisition, activation, retention, and experimentation. There is a free version, which makes it the best zero-cost place to start. Craig Zingerline, who built it, also takes 1:1 calls as a GrowthMentor mentor, so you can go from his course to his calendar.

HubSpot Academy

HubSpot Academy homepage

HubSpot Academy is the biggest free option, with short, certificate-bearing courses on inbound, content, SEO, email, and growth-adjacent skills. It is broader and more beginner-leaning than the rest, and the certificates are free and widely recognized. The best no-cost way to build a base across the funnel before you spend.

Where a course stops and a mentor starts

Here is the gap every course on this list shares, including the free ones. They teach you the general playbook: the frameworks, the channels, the order things usually go in. What they cannot do is open your analytics with you and tell you which of the fifteen things you just learned to do first, on your funnel, this week.

When I ask our mentors what a call gives someone that a course cannot, the answer is some version of the same thing. A course adds, and adding is rarely the problem. The marketer who just finished three courses is not short on tactics. They are short on sequence, and on someone credible to tell them what to ignore. That is the part a video cannot do, because it does not know your numbers.

What a course gives you

  • The general playbook, in a sensible order
  • Frameworks from people who did it at scale
  • A certificate, on some of them
  • Everything at once, for you to prioritize alone

What a mentor gives you

  • The two things to do first on your funnel
  • A read on your real numbers, not a generic example
  • Permission to stop doing what is not working
  • Someone who has run the play, in your corner

That is the difference in one line. A course teaches you the playbook. A mentor helps you run yours.

GrowthMentor: help running the playbook

This is where GrowthMentor fits, and it is honestly not a course. You join, you browse 600+ vetted growth and marketing mentors, and you book a 1:1 call with whoever fits the problem in front of you. Many of them teach the courses above; Craig Zingerline, who built Velocity Growth, takes calls here. The bar to get in as a mentor is high (under 5% of applicants are accepted, and I read every application), which is why a stranger's advice here carries weight.

GrowthMentor homepage

It is also a step up from a one-off mentorship program, because membership is unlimited calls with any mentor, where a program assigns you a single match. Take the course for the framework. Book a growth marketing mentor for the part the course leaves to you.

So if you are about to buy a course, buy it. Just be honest with yourself about what it will and will not do. It hands you the map. Walking your particular road, with someone who has walked it before, is the part worth not doing alone.

Bring the channel mix you can't choose between and the plan you can't sequence. One call with a growth mentor who has done it tells you what to do first and what to skip.
