Having worked in this area for more than 6 years, I have achieved some outstanding results and gained expertise and skills that I’d love to share with others. Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I have significantly improved mobile user flow which resulted in a tremendous increase in conversion rate to Assigned Trial and 30-day-Purchase. Being responsible for paid social channels at a B2B SaaS company, I have managed traffic that is 80% mobile. I’ve discovered the gaps in the registration flow from mobiles leading to the loss of thousands of users because of some technical issues, non-intuitive registration flow, and mobile product onboarding. I’ve collaborated closely with marketing analysts, product team, and back-end developers to improve the user journey, and in the end, we’ve seen huge success from mobiles while the advertising budgets remained the same.

7. Daniel Rubio Sanchez

Describe yourself

I’m a digital growth professional with experience in business go-to-market strategy, international expansion, and revenue top-line growth acceleration. I work as a Senior Growth Manager at Google, leading our partnerships with the top app developers in North America.

Before that, I also worked advising European startups and helped two Spanish unicorns scale their user acquisition. I have strong experience in digital marketing, CRO, and international expansion strategies. Few things energize me more than helping small businesses and startups scale!

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Helping others figure out how to scale their business through paid marketing, leveraging my experience working with startups in Europe and the US.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Focusing on the progress, not seeking perfection. Understanding that testing and failing is part of the process for any business to realize its potential.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Google Search, both paid and organic. It’s still the best way to scale any business!

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

A couple of years ago, I was working with a popular Spanish retail brand as their main Google partner. Their CMO had a clear intention to expand to the US, but their marketing strategy was not supported by a solid operational plan to deliver their goals.

I challenged their assumption that they could just ‘launch’ in such a big market without going through the implications for their logistics chain and shipping strategy. I remember going through some of the websites of their competitors in the US with them, looking at the pricing and delivery timelines these other companies offered (2-3 days max). This company could not deliver its products in less than 7-10 days because its warehouse was based in Spain, and the shipping costs would have forced them to increase the prices to a point their product would not be competitive in the US.

They ended up postponing the US market launch for the following year when they opened a new warehouse there. Their launch was ultimately a big success: now the US is their second biggest market!
It was a big ‘aha!’ moment for me. I saw how all the pieces come together for the first time. When marketing needs to work with product, operations, strategy, etc. really magical things can happen!

Taking Wedio from an idea to 100,000+ monthly guests, 20,000+ members, and €800k+ ARR in just four years, I know the challenges founders face in their early stages of getting traction. I have extensive practical experience in digital marketing & growth hacking with deep expertise and knowledge within SEO. When I advise other founders, I always strive to share concrete, hands-on advice from real-life examples.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

To experience the joy of teaching again.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Always think of speed over perfection. The faster you can get an idea validated the faster you find the idea worth building.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

SEO.
I have a t-shaped profile, and I have always had a special passion for SEO.
Free traffic — what’s not to like? 😉

E.g. have grown Wedio from 10k monthly organic visitors to 70k monthly organic visitors In 8 months.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Kickstarting our UK market via the tactic “Llama Drain”.

Situation:
We wanted to enter London.
We had a limited budget.
We had a competitor (Fat Llama) with already going rentals.

USPs compared to Fat Llama:
– cheaper (25% vs 50% fee)

We could easily onboard supply, but finding Demand was tricky (too expensive for PPC and Ads).

Growth loop: How to bring in Demand via lenders?

Solution:
Operation Llama Drain

What:
Reach out to lenders on Fat Llama, and offer them a Wedio REF code — (1 fee-free rental)

When lenders receive a rental request on Fat Llama, the lender brings the renter to Wedio, offering the renter a fee-free rental instead of paying 50% on Fat Llama.

Result:
0 to €40k monthly revenue in London within 6 months.

Outside of marketing, I would be very keen to help people build executive presence, build and grow a team, and create a go-to-market strategy.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I already act and have acted, as a mentor to several people. I find great value in supporting talented people who are engaged in their careers and development.

It has been made clear to me, through my work with a mentor, that I hold a specific combination of skills (data-oriented, operational, and commercially focused) that is somewhat rare in marketers. This makes me keen to share with people who may be struggling to find the right kind of advice.

Finally, I wish to expand my own network of smart talented people and elevate the next generation of young marketers if I can.

Compounding programmatic small changes daily while trying to identify major opportunities for changes and accepting failure may be an option.

For 15 years, I’d been the first product leader at early-stage organizations. A bunch was at my own startup, where, despite exiting Google, I discovered I was a better head of product than an entrepreneur. Since then, I’ve run Product at GasBuddy (consumer mobile, fintech, B2B Saas), Catalina Digital (martech, retail), Alyce (enterprise SaaS), and Brigit (consumer mobile fintech). I’ve stepped back from salaried work to be a primary parent, and when not making lunches, scheduling doctor’s appointments, helping with homework, and nagging my kids to fold laundry, I coach founders, solo PMs, and first-time heads of product. 21. Kurtis Morrison

Describe yourself

Hi, I’m Kurtis! I’m a 2x early-stage growth lead (1 exit – EyeQuant) and am currently leading growth at Bunch – an AI-enabled leadership coaching app for new managers.

I’ve spent over 10 years working closely with startup founders, with a focus on “0-to-1” growth. I’ve helped bring several new AI products to market (both B2C and B2B) that have reached hundreds of thousands of users. I’m passionate about growth strategy and the startup journey – particularly how to navigate the ambiguity and uncertainty of early-stage ventures.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I want to share what I’ve learned from 10+ years working in early-stage startups and mistakes to avoid when trying to go “from 0 to 1”.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

For me, it means you’re never “done” learning. There’s always something new to discover about a topic, and as long as you manage to stay curious and open, you can continue to grow & improve indefinitely.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

The startup growth “journey” – can be so confusing and emotionally exhausting to navigate and prioritize, and I’d love to help folks gain a sense of clarity.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Sure, at Bunch we wanted to use Email campaigns to promote new content in our app and reactivate users who had gone dormant.

I had the idea that rather than using the email to “sell” the value of the content and why you should come back to read it, we could instead make the email a notification, e.g. “Kurtis sent you a message => view it on Bunch”, then we could use an in-app message to sell the value of the content we’re trying to promote.

This approach enabled us to leverage the user’s curiosity (“What’s the message!?”) to reactivate 3x more app users with each campaign.

22. Magda Zawarska

Describe yourself

I’m a growth-focused marketing professional with extensive (15 years) experience in mobile apps, mobile games, web-based services, and early startup development.

I’m passionate about the outdoors and climbing. My personal North Star Metric is the number of days spent climbing outside during the year. My interests extend to a wide array of random topics, fueling my quirky sense of humor and humble approach to life.

Despite my introverted nature, I have a knack for connecting with people and supporting them in solving acute problems. I enjoy helping with defining product-market fit, personas & value propositions. I have a soft spot for market & competition research, monetization strategies, and organizing processes. I have hands-on experience in managing paid UA (with creative production), ASO, SEO, CRM & socials.

My aspiration as a mentor is to use my skill set to guide others and hopefully prevent them from making mistakes I already did.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love to be of service to people, and I have finally gained the confidence to share my professional knowledge and experiences as a mentor.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

To me, a growth mindset is a relentless curiosity about the workings of things, the world, and humans. It’s more than just a desire to learn. It’s the openness and humility to recognize there’s always more to discover and understand.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Topic: cultivating resiliency and embracing discomfort for introverts.

Why: Stepping outside of the comfort zone is such a catchphrase that whenever I see it – I want to stab myself in the eye. But! Embracing discomfort and fostering a healthy attitude towards it is the key to growth. My personal journey in building resilience was shaped by climbing. It gave me invaluable lessons, observations, and principles that I now apply in various aspects of my professional and personal life.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

In a highly competitive category for a new weather app, I managed the soft launch campaigns ASA and UA strategies and fostered cooperation with the Apple Editorial Team.

The production of marketing materials led to our title being featured by Apple as the recommended app for iOS 14 widgets, achieving constant growth with ASA and Google Ads.

What truly made me think, ‘Damn, I’m pretty good!’ was an out-of-the-box solution I conceived during this project. After extensive research, I hypothesized about the peak seasons for weather apps correlating with severe weather conditions. I crafted a marketing roadmap targeting events like hurricane seasons and snow blizzards, mainly in the USA market.

This strategy led to increased downloads and positioned our app as a go-to resource during critical weather conditions.

I am a B2B SaaS head of marketing. I’ve started as the first marketing hire twice, and know what the challenges are. What to start with, what to prioritize, and when to start growing the team? I’ve worked on product marketing, go-to-market plans, and growth campaigns.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Over the years I’ve mentored many interns and juniors and have always enjoyed doing that. It’s a win-win: they learn, I learn.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

To me, a growth mindset equals using common sense. It’s about understanding who you target, how to reach them best, and how to convince them to try your product – using the least resources possible 🙂

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

First marketing hires. Helping to get you to grips with what you’re prioritizing and why.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Back when I started in marketing, I had minimal experience. Given our very niche market, I realized that the most cost-efficient marketing campaigns would be the highly targeted ones. That’s why we started building a contact list with e-mail addresses that we could use for campaigns. I had developed an Account-Based Marketing campaign before knowing it existed. Over the years I perfectioned this practice and we were able to generate many leads, cooperating with the sales team.

Describe yourself

Writer turned content strategist with over 7 years of experience in the SaaS world. From one-person bootstrapped startups to venture-backed enterprise businesses, I’ve created content or done strategies for companies of all sizes.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I’d like to join the ranks of those who help others. I also believe the conversations will benefit not just the person I’m helping, but also help me grow as a person.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A growth mindset means being on the constant lookout for new ideas to fuel growth. It means not accepting that something works and continuing to do it instead of taking a risk with something new. Failure is a part of the learning process.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Creating an effective SEO content strategy that aligns with a company’s overall marketing/sales goals.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Last year at Whatagraph, we struggled with getting new leads around Black Friday. I launched a campaign that focused on link building, email promotion, Intercom, and social media. The company never made a sale on Black Friday and with my campaign, we made over 30k EUR in sales in a few days.

My strengths lie in executive leadership and scaling operations and departments. I achieve this through a logical and efficient approach balanced with nurturing employee performance and engagement.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

In trying to figure out how to decrease our sales cycle, we ‘decomposed’ our product to enable the selling of modules that aligned with the next generation of SaaS applications (composable components) as described by Gartner.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

At a prior eCommerce company, I noticed an underutilized capability. Over a period of several months I developed cross-functional buy-in to test a new concept which was so successful, that demand for the capability increased to the point that it shifted from underutilized to propensity model-driven, always on and leading to significant sales.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

A wealth tech startup wanted to drive sign-ups to webinars, in the face of a dangerous combination of a high-friction sign-up process (extensive identity checks) and a lack of brand awareness. I was able to 5x sign-ups, from around 20 to over 100, with a new strategy that combined new landing pages, automated LinkedIn nurture sequences, and a more personalized approach from the sales team.
