1. Aditya Mehta

Describe yourself

Hi, my name is Adi, and I’m the founder of Cogito – a data-driven scaling agency for startups. I was previously CEO at Suggestr (YC W22), where we hacked our way to 5-figures in revenue within days of launching. I am a huge email marketing nerd. At Cogito, I handle growth strategy, email outbound, and sales.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Make the YC way of growing startups accessible to every startup founder.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

  1. Start with humility. We don’t know this, but let’s find out.
  2. Expertise is 10K iterations, not just 10K hours — keep improving by 1% every iteration.
  3. Think from the customer’s perspective — build experiments and test hypotheses with data. Scale what works, and discard what doesn’t.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Outbound email marketing for startups. I’ve optimized the email setups of 10+ YC startups (including my own). It’s an underrated channel shunned by many startup founders since it’s perceived as ‘spammy’.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Found an unintuitive new growth channel for a YC startup that increased DAU by 2400% while reducing their previous CAC by 91%, all in the first month.

B2B Sales methods and processes because that’s where I can give them the most help.

8. Daniel Choi

Describe yourself

I am a Growth professional and advisor with a focus on providing the highest level of performance around growth, digital marketing, and B2B/DTC strategies.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I currently serve as a growth advisor/consultant to various startups, and I’ve recognized that there is a massive segment of the population who doesn’t have the budget for my services, but that doesn’t mean I should turn my back on them; if some advice from me can give them the fighting edge to grow, why shouldn’t I give them some of my time? (Plus, I love helping people)

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A growth mindset describes a way of viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and improvement. People who have a growth mindset believe that even if they struggle with certain skills, their abilities aren’t set in stone. With hard work and humility, skills can improve over time.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Paid advertising (focused on SEM), as I have worked at both high-growth startups (Ramp) and large corporations (Google) managing multi-million dollar budgets.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Developed a net-new copy experimentation process for Ramp to a/b test paid ads copy, which resulted in a 40% improvement in CTR over 5 months. I have never seen an effective copy experimentation process, even as a member of Reforge, so I developed one myself.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love to support startups.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

To me, having a growth mindset means high ambition paired with being in control of your ego. Egolessness turns failure, dumb questions, and courage to experiment into opportunities to grow.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Product-Market-Fit.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I changed the product vision of NEWNOW from selling machine-learning services to selling “decision intelligence cockpits” that allowed us to turn one-time profits into ARR, thus setting the venture up for immense scalability with clients such as Deutsche Bank, Eon, and Philips.

I am passionate about data, creativity, and teams, so happy to share a positive view on management and leadership.

I got a full stack of channels & verticals experience, but more importantly, I am passionate about data, creativity, and teams.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Strive for ideation, not perfection. For every win, you make a few fails. Don’t give up.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Growth Marketing

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I want to share my experience and help others to get into IT.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Constantly make yourself better by improving your knowledge and skills. Being open to sharing it with others.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Backend development. Because I’m an expert in it, programming is my hobby and I love to code.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

One day parsers became too aggressive with my client’s e-commerce project. Every day they grabbed all prices to use them in competitor’s stores.
It was a bad idea to just block them – because they’ll immediately see they’re blocked and then adjust their behavior to bypass the restriction.
So I decided to act tricky and instead of blocking bots I made the data they grab useless. If I was confident that a visitor is a bot, I started to return fake prices, pictures, etc. So normal users weren’t affected, but price analysis or content stealing became more expensive for competitors.

I am a seasoned operations executive with over 20 years dedicated to technical and operational leadership. I’ve served in a wide variety of roles in both corporate and startups all focusing on core technology and operational excellence.

Throughout my career, I have executed operational and technical strategies key to business expansion (international growth to 6 countries), successful funding rounds ($40M), and extensive company growth (built out departments from scratch and then scaled them).

While a technologist at heart, my most recent ventures have placed me in core roles responsible for enabling operational scalability. A focus on successful team alignment has resulted in explosive people growth and international expansion.

I have led a variety of Operations teams including Technology Operations, Contract Operations, Revenue Operations, People Operations, Security Operations, PMO, and Talent Acquisition. Data cleanliness and task tracking. Many impactful decisions come down to having the right data at your fingertips and then being able to execute the decisions made.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Needed to have complex file management and security layers built into Salesforce. No specific application solved the full set of use cases so we rolled out a Dropbox integration using their API and a custom layer of application code. The result was extremely powerful, met the use cases, and handled the load.

I am a transformative leader with over 12 years of experience in the marketing industry. I have a passion for growing brands through strategic digital marketing channels and a proven track record of success in driving business growth. I also love to help and teach others and have experience leading a team of over 60 employees. With experience working with diverse clients including notable celebrities and public companies, I have the skills and expertise to create and execute full-picture marketing strategies and mentor and guide team members to success.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I am passionate about leading, teaching, and learning from others as it is a highly rewarding experience, and I have a wealth of knowledge and skills to share.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A growth mindset to me means embracing challenges and viewing failures not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth and learning. It means being open-minded and willing to continuously develop and improve one’s skills, knowledge, and understanding. In essence, having a growth mindset means embracing a lifelong learning attitude and a positive outlook toward personal development.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Digital marketing. Because it’s kind of a cheat answer. By that I mean I have learned so much throughout my career on different forms of digital marketing thus providing a number of key topics under one topic umbrella.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Back in 2018 when I led the digital marketing for the largest privately held CBD company we were one of the first companies to run successful ads in a time when CBD was NOT allowed to run ads. How did we do it? By creating third-party pages and instead of running ads that sold to you, we educated. We created heartfelt high-quality videos about stories of adults, seniors, and even children on how “this thing” saved their lives, how, on why… no real mention of CBD, and some we didn’t even have dialogue. The result? is a profitable 6 figures a month boost thanks to the awareness of such a key product (also ads got taken down a few times, but alas perseverance!)

15. Lily Ugbaja

Describe yourself

Hey, I’m Lily Ugbaja. In my past life, I grew three of my own sites and worked at Animalz helping brands like SimpleLegal grow traffic over 500% (Case Study). Now, I consult for brands like WordPress, Hubspot, and Zapier. Want to win more of your best buyers? I help brands develop a marketing strategy anchored around an ‘Audience of One’ — buyers who spend the most, and give your customer support team the least headache. Ditch fictitious personas, get in front of your best buyers, and make a bank with my advice.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Accountability to share my ideas. After taking over the Semrush thread to talk about the LEMA framework (that blew up, loads of podcasts about it coming up soon), I realized that more people need the knowledge that I have. I want to be able to share that.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Seeing opportunity in every failure, such that you’re not afraid to try new things (even when you’re not sure). If you have a growth mindset, nothing is unachievable!

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Customer-led growth for sure. The way people buy is changing, the audience’s needs (not the product) lead the market. You need to be constantly evolving and growing with your customers if you want to stay relevant. From your strategy, down to the content you create, everything should be anchored (and fluid) around your best customer.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Most of my clients were struggling to create high-quality, remarkable content at scale. I developed a four-point formula that’s easy to remember and implement for high-quality content — the LEMA framework (Logic, Explicitness, Memorability, Actionability).

16. Logan Young

Describe yourself

Hi, I’m Logan Young. In my mind marketing is all about problem solving and that’s what I love about it. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with a lot of D2C brands such as Tuft & Needle, Snow Teeth Whitening, Golden State Warriors, and many others. I’ve run ads on every major social media platform and have a lot of experience with CRO and creating high-converting Video + Static Ads.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I’ve had success in my career because of others’ mentorship and am ready to pay it forward.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Recognizing that yesterday’s winning Ads or marketing campaigns are as good as last week’s shower. If you’re a scaleable brand that means you have strong competitors who are constantly improving. To keep up and take the lead you have to constantly be focused on growth and evolving.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Video Content. Outside of product + offer, it makes the biggest impact in a brand scaling and a lot of vendors who offer this service aren’t proving brands the firepower they really need to grow.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

At Snow, we’d tested multiple creative agencies in 1 year but the ads performed the best when we built out the entire process internally. Starting w/ vetting talent, getting raw footage, editing it into ads (this is where most agencies stop), to running and tracking the performance of every ad using a process we called the Content Learnings Machine, all in-house. Then rinsing and repeating this process every single week and quarter. I built out and led this process and we beat every agency we went up against with our internal team a fraction of the size.

Describe yourself

I have over 10 years of experience in product management and marketing in tech industries before becoming a consultant for start-ups. I have launched numerous key products with strong results, helped small businesses get moving, and assisted scale-ups in planning their growth profitably.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love to be a (sometimes small) part of building something, seeing the growth, and helping organizations achieve their potential.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A growth mindset is being consistently open to disproving your beliefs, including your own abilities. A growth mindset is refusing to accept an approach that won’t work for you or your business until it’s tried.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Go-to-market. I focused on go-to-market a lot in my career in Tech, also with start-up clients. It’s where I have the most history and insights to share.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Scaled back on two teams that had become inefficient and unproductive. Reorganized resources to focus on the right deliverables, merged two teams together and was able to deliver more value for stakeholders with fewer resources.

Describe yourself

Hello! My name is Marco and I am a senior performance marketing manager at Revolut. I am an expert in mobile user acquisition. I worked for years in mobile gaming before moving to fintech around a year ago. Happy to help with any mobile acquisition-specific questions you could have.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Because I would like to use my experience to help other peers avoid costly tests and improve the industry as a whole one step at a time.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Growth comes from experimenting and testing. All details are important as you rarely will see a huge increase in performance after 1 change, but putting 100 changes together might really make the difference.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Mobile user acquisition and tracking. I love the mobile ad industry and I consider myself quite an expert in this field. I am genuinely interested in solving/improving acquisition issues/strategies.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

We were running some campaigns on a particular channel and even though the spent and volume were there, the return was not great. My hypothesis was that this had to do with the age groups we were targeting, so I tried splitting these campaigns and capping them differently based on age groups. This allowed us to scale up nicely keeping a good performance.

Describe yourself

I co-founded SemaphoreCI.com and bootstrapped it to a seven-figure ARR. We’ve built a globally distributed remote team and cultivated a fantastic customer base. As you might imagine, I’ve played every role and gained invaluable experience throughout this journey. My new mission is to help as many founders as possible.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Been learning the hard way for the last 14 years – want to help other founders, not waste time, and execute better.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Continuous improvement is literally a core value at my company. I don’t see life making sense without always learning and growing ourselves. Continuous improvement qualifies us to do our present tasks with a wider vision, increasing competence, and rising demands on ourselves. When you are in this mindset learning is life-long, there is no room for complaints, and work never gets boring.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Bootstrapping as in all about product and company-building within the constraints of being profitable, because that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 10+ years.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

At Semaphore, one challenging role to delegate was that of “Technical Content Editor” due to the need for both marketing and technical expertise. Additionally, hiring full-time technical writers knowledgeable about our niche proved difficult, hindering inbound marketing growth.

To scale more effectively, we decentralized content planning and invited the developer community to pitch ideas. To compete with other companies that also work with external writers, we introduced a bonus scheme for writers whose articles gained above-average traction. We also entrusted technical reviews to industry experts willing to collaborate on educational content. As a result, we now publish more high-quality content than ever, and our engagement numbers have significantly improved.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

It involves continuously seeking user feedback and insights, rapidly learning and adjusting, and combining established best practices with creative solutions to achieve optimal results.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

During my time working with Ferry, I was fortunate enough to work on a project that involved the development of a mobile app for an automotive brand. As part of the building of the platform, I was conducting user research to identify pain points and gather feedback on the app’s usability.

Through this process, I discovered that many users wanted the ability to save a car to get back to it later or to be informed when it’s available. From this, we decided to implement 2 new features. A “Wishlist” allowed users to save cars to their account, kind of like a favorite. And a “Waitlist” where they pay $99 to know first when it’s available. This led to a significant increase in user activity in the app and also gave the company a value list of data points for which cars to focus on based on user’s interest.

This experience taught me the importance of understanding user needs and pain points in order to create effective solutions. It also demonstrated the value of user testing and how it can lead to valuable insights that can drive improvements in product design and user experience.

24. Olga Mykhoparkina

Describe yourself

I’m a founder at Quoleady, a SaaS content marketing agency where we help SaaS companies grow through blogs. We’ve worked with amazing SaaS products such as Monday.com, Pandadoc, GetVoip, and many more. We’ve helped to grow Expandi from 0 to $7M ARR in two years. We’ve also worked with startups who started from scratch where we’ve been their only marketing team: we’ve got our client RingBlaze 650 beta testers with only 20 articles; generated 500 leads for FullSession with 16 articles. I’m a SaaS enthusiast and a big fan of high-intent ROI-generating content for SaaS.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

As a SaaS enthusiast, I’m looking to get to know interesting people in the SaaS niche, help those in need, build a personal brand, and expand my network.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

You are always ready to experiment and try new things. You do it in a lean way incorporating minimum time and resources and aiming for maximum results. You think sharp and move fast. You never stop learning and stay on top of things and technologies.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Generating leads via SaaS blog.

We’ve done it for so many clients and gotten amazing results. I know what it takes, where to start, which mistakes to avoid, and which best practices to stick to.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Rather than hiring super expensive native English-speaking writers, we’ve come to a solution where we check the paragraphs with Grammarly, and for those we need to rewrite we push to an AI rewriting tool and it gives a smooth version of the same thought that flows well and sounds native.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Identifying a winning growth strategy and executing it in a customer-focused way.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Voice experiences at Amazon, and in general were in a nascent stage in 2014. I conceptualized and led an incubation team to launch voice shopping commands and then Alexa into Amazon’s flagship shopping app. This was Alexa’s first launch on a mobile device. Voice usage in the app increased more than fourfold. It laid the foundation for voice shopping capabilities at Amazon. The incubation team grew into a full business unit.

26. Rashel Hariri

Describe yourself

Hello! I’m Rashel Hariri. I left my job in tech marketing to consulting startups across the globe. I love working with founders to help them navigate how to market and grow their businesses.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love working with startups; that’s why I quit my job to consult. I’m also a mentor at First Round. I enjoy helping others and growing my network.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Continuous learning and improvement! It means being a constant learner, always looking for ways to grow. Not being afraid to be wrong or to pivot. And not thinking you know it all.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Creating a marketing strategy end-to-end with a strong GTM launch.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

A high number of unqualified inbound leads were hitting a demo sign-up page. I analyzed the lander, the market messaging, ad creative, and copy, and revised the media mix. The initial messaging was too far at the top of the funnel, requiring additional video and educational guides to draw a more qualified audience. This required more time and content, but it delivered a higher rate of qualified leads by allowing the audience to disqualify themselves before hitting send on the demo page.

27. Ryan Prior

Describe yourself

Hey! I’m Ryan, head of marketing at a fast-growing SaaS (Modash). I’m here to help with all things SaaS user acquisition. My background is mostly SEO & Content (prev. at Skale, a SaaS SEO agency, and Toggl), and SEO is the main growth driver for Modash too.

I’m also managing PPC, working with influencers, and a few other acquisition channels.

Lastly, I co-founded a small local marketing agency way back in 2015, and I’ve had an affiliate SEO business on the side for the past ~4 years – happy to discuss those too!

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I’ve been a mentee for a few years, and I’m ready to give back! 🙂

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Figuring out what works, learning fast, and working hard 🙂

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Growing non-brand acquisition through SEO & content! I’ve done this a ton of times including for Modash, Attest, Perkbox, Toggl, Piktochart, and other SaaS brands.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I’m not sure I’ve ever said that (yet)! That said, here are 2 wins I’m proud of that come to mind. Let’s imagine the problem we’re solving is ‘we’re not growing fast enough!’:

  1. Worked to restructure the team at Modash so that one engineer was working full-time on growth initiatives. Since then, together we’ve built various free tools (e.g. https://www.modash.io/engagement-rate-calculator), launched nearly 1,000 programmatic SEO pages, and grown non-brand trial sign-ups by 1k+ per month.
  2. Templatized various content formats like ‘how to’, alternative lists, and software lists so that we can scale content production faster with freelance writers. I’ve done this for several companies, but in Modash’s case, blog sign-ups have grown from ~200/mo to ~900/mo in less than 1 year as a result of the new content.

28. Saurabh Wahegaonkar

Describe yourself

I’m a seasoned growth marketer with a varied experience in multiple industries and high-growth startups. I’ve helped them scale and grow to achieve their next round of funding.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I want to share the knowledge I’ve acquired over the years with up-and-coming growth marketers.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Having a growth mindset means that you always keep your eyes and ears open to new opportunities to grow a business. It is a holistic approach to building from the ground up and not purely focused on one channel or strategy.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Scaling B2B SaaS. This is because I have extensive experience doing so using a myriad of strategies.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

For one startup that I worked with, they had a mix of online and offline businesses. But they used only online channels such as social media and email to acquire new customers. They had a decent CAC but were looking at ways to reduce it. It dawned upon me that they were not making use of Google My Business for listing all offline centers across the country. Once we were able to finish this project over the course of 2-3 weeks, it led to a 27% increase in sign-ups at zero cost.

29. Shahar Barkai

Describe yourself

Hi, I’m Shahar Barkai, former VP of global growth at Singular & former senior director of demand generation & growth at Perimeter 81 and with over 15 years in digital marketing. I help companies achieve hypergrowth – by leveraging data & automation, building a well-oiled marketing machine, and reducing go-to-marketing barriers. I’ve been building go-to-market teams and strategies for the past 7 years and would love to assist others in their path to success.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I enjoy helping others succeed and am happy to “give back” to the community.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Positive “can do attitude”, always test your assumptions with data, always try new things. But most importantly – have the right team with you – hyper growth is a rollercoaster, you want to have the best people around with you when taking all those chances (budget tests, new campaigns, new marketing channels, PLG approach, etc..).

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Building a go-to-marketing strategy and maintaining hyper-growth. I’ve done it a few times and would love the chance to help others avoid the common pitfalls plus save them time and budget on non-effective activities.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Problem: High churn rate
Solution: reduce pricing for long-term plans, segment database by user use case and send short-term customers close to subscription end – a strong offering for a long-term plan. Also, automate a process that whenever someone churns they get an automated email to a personalized landing page with a strong re-activation offering.

30. Shailvi Wakhlu

Describe yourself

Former Head of Data/Analytics from Strava and Komodo Health. I’ve solved data problems in Fortune 500 companies like Salesforce, as well as smaller companies like Fitbit. Subscription business expert. I’ve also built a decent personal brand with 25+ yearly speaking sessions.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I have mentored 200 in one year – for free. I’m looking forward to being part of a platform that helps me find mentees more easily.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Being willing to put yourself in highly ambiguous situations, where success is far from a guarantee. Then learn from how that situation plays out, and iterate on it.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

How to set up a subscription business (enterprise or consumer) for success by thinking about the metrics early.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

There was once a team I became the new leader for, that was undervalued and struggled with getting the right resources for their work. Their positioning was weak, and they were seen as a task-servicing team, despite being highly skilled and working on very critical analyses. The next time the team presented their updates to the broader company, I added a dollar amount (usually in millions) for the deals that each analysis project affected. Within a week the team had additional headcount approved, lots of kudos, and a completely different positioning.

I am a full-stack marketer. Where the world talks about adding a pinch of personalization to existing modules, I go the extra mile to build the right innovation considering both customers and data. Using the design thinking approach as the basis for all my strategies, I focus on new approaches to solving problems in a creative and collaborative way. I was recently nominated for the mint marketing awards 2021 and social samosa’s 30 Under 30 lists. I have worked with some amazing organizations such as Whatfix, Hindustan Times, PepsiCo, and others. She believes new ideas have the power to turn the tables for any organization. I am not only growing professionally but have also mentored 80+ students in the last 2 years across the globe in careers who are now growing substantially in their careers.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

When we talk to someone it’s a shared learning experience.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Growth is all about innovation.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

How to use your hobbies to you establish a successful career.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Content Marketing is directly or indirectly related to how your customer perceives your brand. If you still have any doubts about this? Go talk to any prospect or your customer that how did they find you. It is likely that they will have read, seen, or heard about your offering from someone who has used it before. So now the question is how does it impact my business? I have used content marketing as a key to driving revenue for the organization by just using it in different forms. We have a podcast called The Digital Adoption Show where we host luminaries across L&D we were not only able to get direct revenue out of it by interacting with leaders on a thought leadership platform like a podcast but also were able to generate influenced revenue.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

User Experience, Designing Ethical Product and Marketing.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I was working on a face-lifting of one of the popular banks. As you can imagine sales and marketing teams can get really excited about pouring ideas and the way they want to see the designs. Even today if you can look at any bank’s website you would probably get overwhelmed and feel like bombard with too much information.

So in my project instead of displaying all the unnecessary information on the page, I have suggested putting a big search bar where the user can actually type in what they want and go from there. Then the cookies can initiate related to a few more information when the same user comes back to their page again. They are still using the same approach.

35. William Chiu

Describe yourself

I help companies scale their lifecycle marketing operations. Over the last 6 years, I’ve worked with tech startups and SMBs in B2B SaaS and DTC subscriptions. Driving user acquisition and retention is what excites me.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

To help people grow their businesses through lifecycle marketing.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Making improvements, in all aspects of life, using a thoughtful and systematic approach.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Lifecycle marketing.

Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

As a lifecycle marketer for a DTC medical subscription company, I was tasked to improve user retention across all of our services.

I took a deep dive into different drivers of retention and found that cross-sell is a behavior that, on average, results in +25% better MoM retention vs. non-cross-sold users. Not only was this a great opportunity to drive retention, but success in this area would also result in more treatments per patient and significant revenue growth.

With this in mind, I implemented a series of email automation that doubled cross-sell from 8% to 16% in less than a year. Improving retention among those cross-sold and generating hundreds of thousands in LTV.
