“When you’re a growth marketer like me and you want to learn, there’s a big bridge between theory and practice. This is why I think GrowthMentor is a perfect tool for me.”

"And even if a lot of great marketers have started by reading blog posts, and articles and doing eLearning, and doing HubSpot classes or whatever, you need something to push forward. And just speaking with professionals with values that are similar to yours can help."

Why did you signup to GrowthMentor?

I think that mentoring is an elementary part of the growth process, whether it’s personal or professional. And what I love about GrowthMentor is how easy it is to connect with multiple mentors. I think working with only one mentor is a great technique and is great when you have your own business, or you just want to have personal growth over time.

But when you’re a growth marketer like me and you want to learn, there’s a big bridge between theory and practice. This is why I think GrowthMentor is a perfect tool for me. Because I’m able to select anything that relates to my field and just go for it. And it’s not just about looking for an answer on what I’m doing. I’m also looking to get a different point of view and to see if there is anything that I’m doing wrong or if there’s a red flag I need to watch for, something that can hurt me in the future if I don’t watch out for it.

What do you enjoy most about being a member?

GrowthMentor is really a value-packed tool. It’s a great tool to get started but also to learn some little tweaks to kick start growth. I’ve been doing SEO for a year and a half and the more I speak with mentors about SEO, the more insight I get. I’m also getting outside of the box ideas that I can’t really find in articles.

For example, with Dave Schneider, we spoke about link building. All of the articles I was reading were like, “Yeah, the best way to do link building is just to do outreach, manually outreach people.” And I don’t know if you’ve tried that, but it’s really kind of hard. But he was able to give me additional examples like creating a scholarship or just do guest blogging. I was already thinking about doing guest blogging, but it’s really nice to hear someone echo your thoughts. Especially someone that was one day was in the same shoes as you and that knows your struggle and knows what you’re going through.

How has GrowthMentor helped you market V2cloud?

The best way that I was able to use GrowthMentor is by getting help to simplify our product. We have a really tech savvy product. And by jumping on calls with various growth mentors, I learned ways to make the messaging clearer and more concise. I also improved my SEO strategy and got some great pricing insights and some new ideas on ways to grow.

I think you guys have chosen the right name.

What would you say to somebody who’s on the fence about signing up?

The key to becoming successful is to understand yourself. And even if a lot of great marketers have started by reading blog posts, and articles and doing eLearning, and doing HubSpot classes or whatever, you need something to push forward. And just speaking with professionals with values that are similar to yours can help.

Before joining GrowthMentor, my plan was to just select some people on LinkedIn that had great profiles and reach out to them. But now with less money than many people spend for random SaaS tools you an choose vetted mentors without having to do any of the manual outreach legwork. And even if you want to speak with a mentor about a more specific subject and pay them, you can usually ask your boss or your co-founder or whatever to reimburse you for that.
