Which bigger customer should we go after first?
Your current customers are local shops, solo users or tiny teams who pay little. Pick one larger segment, by size and industry, where your results already apply.
Check what serving them costs before you commit. Longer sales cycles, more onboarding and more support can wipe out the bigger price.
How do we win big clients with only small-client proof?
Larger buyers ask for case studies you cannot show yet. Results from small customers still help when you show the method, the numbers and what changed.
Some founders offer a first project at a founding price in return for a case study and a reference. Agree in writing what you get back and when the price goes up.
Who signs the contract, and who can block it?
In a larger company, the person who loves your demo rarely owns the budget. Map each role before you send a proposal:
- The user. Feels the problem every day and tells you whether the product works.
- The champion. Wants the change and pushes it internally, if you give them the material to make the case.
- The budget owner. Approves the spend and asks what it saves or earns.
- Procurement and security. Check contracts, data handling and vendor risk, and can stall a deal for months.
What changes in pricing and the sales process?
If no current customer needs your top plan, a higher price needs a bigger offer: seats, onboarding, support terms or an annual contract. Decide which signal moves a self-serve account into a sales conversation.
The mentors above include enterprise sellers from Google, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and Shopify, pricing specialists and leaders who built sales teams for bigger deals. Pick the one closest to the deal in front of you.

Before you join
What people ask before their first call.
Many founders test with smaller companies first, because one person decides and feedback comes fast. Go after larger accounts once you know which problem they will pay to solve. A mentor can help you set the point where you switch.
A free pilot can get you in the door. Before it starts, agree on a sponsor, success criteria, an end date and the price that follows. A pilot with no agreed next step tends to drift.
Common options: keep existing customers on current terms for a set period, move them when they get more value, or let the smallest accounts go. New, larger clients start on the new price. Bring revenue by customer so the trade-off is clear.
Some of the mentors above have taken startups through procurement, security reviews and CISO audits. Bring the questionnaire or the buyer’s requirements, and use the call to decide what to fix now and what to answer as a roadmap item.
Your current customers and what they pay, the segment you want next and your pricing. Add one live deal or prospect: the people involved, the stage and where it stalled.
The session is advice. An introduction is at the mentor’s discretion. Ongoing sales support or advisory work needs a separate agreement with the mentor; explain the help you need in your request.
