The Work
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you are working on
I am the co-founder of a startup/VC/management team database exclusively focused on the early stage life sciences ecosystem. I have built the product from scratch and currently working on growth and marketing for the startup.
The startup I co-founded is now a side hustle and I am also working as the Head of Growth and Marketing for an investment marketplace. My role is both driving traffic to the top of the funnel and identifying opportunities to encourage people to move down the funnel.
Before
Before GrowthMentor, where did you turn for help?
Online research e.g. read blogs, hunted informative articles on LinkedIn, subscribed to newsletters, read discussions on open communities etc.
The Decision
What caused you to signup for GrowthMentor?
Value proposition. i.e. being able to connect with any expert across the globe at the click of a button. No network or previous interactions required 🙂
Inside the Platform
What is your favorite thing about GrowthMentor?
It saves time in helping me directly connect with experts regardless of the location. Especially during COVID-19, GrowthMentor has helped me immensely in connecting and speaking with people from diverse backgrounds and helped me evolve as a professional.
What topics have you mostly discussed with mentors?
Honestly, a huge range, because I was learning a lot of it as I went. Value-based pricing and consulting, SaaS marketing and product-led growth, SEO, the UX and UI of my site, Facebook Ads, analytics, and even how to pitch myself for marketing leadership roles. It changed depending on what I was stuck on that week.
The Breakthrough
Does any particular mentor stand-out as awesome?
Nathan Sudds helped me understand how consulting should be focused around value based pricing instead of labor based. He introduced me to Jonathan Stark's blog which I am still trying to absorb bit by bit every day. I wasn't aware of this concept before and it was super helpful to know this. Monika Khanna also stood out. She came to our call having already done her homework and gave me detailed UX and UI feedback for my site, which I went and implemented straight after.
The Transformation
How has being a member of GrowthMentor helped you?
It has helped me both personally and professionally. Currently I am not at that stage to be a mentor in terms of time and energy but someday I hope to sign up as a mentor too and pay this forward.
The Verdict
GrowthMentor in three words…
