“Sometimes I'm stuck at one step and all I need is someone who can share experiences of what they did when they were in my situation.”
The Work
Tell us about what you are currently working on.
I'm Head of Marketing at DOWN Dating App, one of the top 20 dating apps in the US.
I focus on ASO, SEO, and PR at DOWN. I also work on different side projects from time to time: podcast, campaigns, in-app events, etc.
Before
Before you learned about GrowthMentor, how did you deal with the challenges you faced?
I usually google my questions, or ask friends.
The Decision
What ultimately compelled you to sign up for GrowthMentor?
Google doesn't always have the answers that I need. Sometimes I'm stuck at one step and all I need is someone who can share experiences of what they did when they were in my situation.
Inside the Platform
What's your favorite thing about GrowthMentor?
There are many mentors to choose from. Booking calls is easy, and the calls are really efficient.
What topics have you mostly discussed with mentors?
Mostly the three areas I own at DOWN: PR, SEO and link building, and growth marketing. A lot of my sessions were about public relations, since that was new territory for us. Closer to the end I focused more on planning out marketing campaigns and finding new user-growth ideas to try.
The Breakthrough
Is there a specific session/mentor that stands out in your mind as super helpful?
A few, actually. For PR, Sam Hurley answered all my questions and kept helping me even after the call, and Gaby Fernandez Scala broke things down step by step so I knew exactly what to work on next. On the SEO side, Stefan Repin gave me a lot of practical strategies for link building. And Tina Louise came at it from a different angle for growth, with outside-the-box ideas and even intros to freelancers we could hire.
The Transformation
How has GrowthMentor helped you?
We've started working on PR as the mentors suggested. This is still in progress, but it's really nice to have experts give us suggestions & different ideas.
When I'm stuck at something, I know I'd always have a group of experts to turn to and discuss my problems with. It's really reassuring.
The Verdict
What three adjectives would you use to describe GrowthMentor?
