Even after you’ve found someone you want to speak to, working out what to bring to the call can take some thought, especially when you’re facing a difficult decision or trying to explain a problem you haven’t quite pinned down.
We built session prep to help both people arrive with somewhere to start. Before a scheduled call, members get suggested questions and mentors get a separate brief. Both draw on the context already shared in the session request.
Questions that start with your situation
Your prep uses the topic, goals, and details you shared when booking, along with basic information about you and your mentor. Instead of a general list of things to ask, it suggests questions connected to the conversation you’ve requested.
For a call about onboarding, that could mean asking where new users get stuck, which experiment to try first, and how to judge whether it helped. Read the questions before the call and choose the ones closest to the decision you need to make.
Your mentor gets a head start, too
Your mentor gets a separate brief covering what you want to discuss, possible ways to approach it and questions worth exploring. That gives them some context before you meet, so you can spend more of the call working through the problem together.
Bring your own questions, too
Use the prep as a starting point. Pick the suggestions that fit, add the questions on your mind, and follow the conversation wherever it becomes useful. Bring a relevant example, result, or piece of work so your mentor has something concrete to respond to.
