The Work

Tell us about what you are currently working on.

I'm looking to productize websites and get a monthly retainer instead of a project-based fee.

I'm currently trying to find a good market fit and decide from what angle I should offer this.

Before

Before you learned about GrowthMentor, how did you deal with the challenges you faced?

I learned a lot by trial and error.

I also joined a bunch of groups on Facebook. On top of that bought a few courses and mentorship plans, which all promised a lot more than they delivered.

The Decision

What ultimately compelled you to sign up for GrowthMentor?

It felt like a HUGE bang for the buck.

The mentors seemed very skilled and good at mentoring.

The Slack group and the community therein were also a strong force in my joining, which turned out to be of even more value than I first thought.

Inside the Platform

What's your favorite thing about GrowthMentor?

The mentors. All of them are so professional and serious. They are so much into sharing their experience and helping out, so I never felt like a big liability for them.

What topics have you mostly discussed with mentors?

Finding the next steps for my venture and the right market angle, copywriting for the offer, and a lot of zooming out to look at the big picture. A few mentors also gave me whole frameworks and fresh marketing ideas to work from.

The Breakthrough

Is there a specific session/mentor that stands out in your mind as super helpful?

Honestly, no single one stands out, because they all left me with golden nuggets I still carry. Peter Murphy Lewis pushed me to think much bigger about the size of market I should aim for. Ben Heinkel asked the kind of questions that help you work out whether a product will actually fly. And my last call with Ray Berry gave me a few ideas to try. I haven't tested them yet, but if they work, it's genius.

The Transformation

How has GrowthMentor helped you?

I can honestly say that I've been quite bad at taking action on all of the advice.

This is because my bread and butter are still writing code, and it has taken up a lot of my working hours lately.

But I'm in the midst of developing the latest idea from Ray.

It helped me trust in my ideas and trust in myself, as well as develop them. It has been extremely helpful just to throw ideas and get some thoughts back.
