The Work
Tell us something about yourself and what you are currently working on.
I am a Machine Learning Engineer with dual goals: building a YouTube channel and potentially creating a new app. I am working on two simultaneous projects: developing a YouTube channel focused on tech and personal development, and building a social travel app. The YouTube channel (@Gratitude.Driven) has already launched, and I am in the process of learning about branding, storytelling, marketing, and more. The app is in the ideation phase, and I am learning about design and building an MVP, essentially, figuring out how to bring the idea from my mind into the real world.
Before
Before you learned about GrowthMentor, how did you deal with the challenges you faced?
I primarily conducted research on YouTube and read books. Over time, I passively gathered relevant information without following a structured study plan.
The Decision
What ultimately compelled you to sign up to GrowthMentor?
The variety of mentors available was appealing because I knew very little about either of these ventures before starting. I understood that I would need input on every aspect of two businesses that were very different from my career.
Inside the Platform
What's your favorite thing about GrowthMentor?
The variety. I came in knowing almost nothing about either venture, so being able to find a different expert for each piece, branding one week, sponsorships the next, app design after that, meant I never had to figure each new thing out on my own.
What topics have you mostly discussed with mentors?
Branding and storytelling for the channel, sponsorships, marketing in general, and on the app side, design and how to build an MVP. Two pretty different worlds, so the topics were all over the place.
The Breakthrough
Is there a specific session/mentor that stands out in your mind as super helpful?
I've had a bunch of great sessions, so it isn't easy to choose just one. However, when I joined GrowthMentor, I was having a hard time prioritizing between doubling down on content creation or starting to build out my app idea. I met with Andy Wolfe to learn more about the struggles and challenges that come with being a founder, and that session gave me clarity on the direction I want to take in both the immediate and longer terms. On the branding side, Maria Nimfuehr came in well prepared and gave me a ton of practical advice for the channel.
The Transformation
How has GrowthMentor helped you?
I have learned a TON about branding and marketing for my YouTube channel. I also gained valuable insights into the experience of being a founder, which helped me prioritize my plans for my app.
The Verdict
What three adjectives would you use to describe GrowthMentor?
