Mentee Code of Conduct

1 min read Updated recently

Every mentee on GrowthMentor agrees to a short set of expectations. These exist to protect mentors' time — since most of them donate it free — and to keep the platform a space where people genuinely want to help each other.

The rules

1. Show up on time

Be online and ready when your scheduled session starts. If something unexpected comes up, message the mentor as early as possible — ghosting is the fastest way to lose access to mentors.

2. Come prepared

Write a clear session request. Share context, links, and what you've already tried. Think through what you want out of the call. Mentors can help more when they can skip the warm-up.

3. Don't pitch mentors

Mentors are not your customers. Don't use sessions to sell your product or recruit. If a mentor offers help beyond the call, that's their call — but the first move is always the mentor's.

4. Leave honest reviews

Reviews are the primary signal future mentees use to pick a mentor. Be specific. Call out what the mentor did well or where they could improve. No fake praise, no score-padding.

5. Respect the attendance policy

Changes within 24 hours of a session require direct mentor contact. See our attendance policy for details.

6. Keep it on the platform

Book and communicate through GrowthMentor. It keeps both parties accountable and gives our team a record if something goes wrong.

7. Be respectful

Mentors come from all walks of life. Treat every session as you'd want yours treated — with patience, curiosity, and zero entitlement.

What happens if you break the rules

Repeat no-shows, harassment, off-platform bookings, or abuse of the membership will result in a warning followed by suspension. We rarely have to enforce this — but we do when we need to.
