Bio

I’m a 7x startup veteran. A few flops, a couple unicorns. I was early at GOAT and helped take the iOS app from $100M to $3.7B. Now I'm CTO at Chemical Wedding, building Emmy Award-winning filmmaking tools like Artemis Pro. I joined GrowthMentor because I want to help non-technical founders spot red flags on the technical side before it's too late.

Expertise

  • Technology and tools

I help non-technical founders avoid getting burned by dev shops or bad hires. That means vetting technical partners, reviewing codebases, and spotting red flags early. I’ve helped early-stage startups find the right developer for their stage — not overbuild, not overpay.

Toolkit

  • Apple Search Ads logo

    Apple Search Ads

I run lean, so I need marketing channels that actually move the needle. Apple Search Ads is the one I keep coming back to — it’s scrappy, direct, and measurable. I use it to test if an idea has legs, dial in messaging, and get in front of the right users without needing a massive budget.

Manager of New Media & Recruiting Services

My primary responsibilities here were to oversee and grow the athletic department's new media properties and recruiting services while developing a strategy that merges the two seamlessly. It also includes special projects such as the Department Coordinator for the 2010 Holiday Bowl and 2011 Alamo Bowl where I worked closely with the Director of Football Operations (DFO) and President's Official Party (POP) to oversee the overall coordination and +$1 Million Budgets of both bowl games. Added Note: My current position is a combination of my former Recruiting Coordinator position with the New Media position. I personally believe that the two go hand-in-hand since the prospective student-athlete today spends a majority of their online time perusing social media networks. At the same time, social media is not all about recruiting. There is a time and place for social media to be used for marketing purposes or to add to the bottom line but it must be done authentically. It is an area I am actively exploring and looking to integrate into our department's new media strategy.

  • UCLA Athletics

Director of Operations - Men's Golf

My primary responsibilities during this time included recruiting, managing the team's academic progress, coordinating one of the best collegiate tournaments in the country (the Cordevalle Collegiate), creating graphics for various team uses, building relationships throughout the athletic department, and researching and developing creative ideas to best our competition (mainly through the use of technology). At the end of my first year, our team accomplished an incredible feat, winning the 2008 NCAA Championships. Added Note: A two-person staff carries an interesting dynamic. One that I would say is similar to a start-up company. It requires wearing many different managerial hats while still having enough energy and initiative to find ways to progress and innovate. I prided myself on having that energy and dedication to "getting things done" no matter the task at hand.
